Since my last post was my pattern for the car cup holder coasters, I thought I should go ahead and put my matching rearview mirror hanger on here as well. If you are reading this and are planning to make this sunflower hanger, you may want to go back and check our my car coaster pattern as well!
I have this rearview mirror hanger tutorial on my youtube. In the same video, I also show you how to make the cup holder coasters. Here is the link, if you would rather watch than read :)
Without further a do, let's get right into it! This is a beginner-friendly pattern, but you will need to know a couple different stitches for the petals. We are going to be using the slip stitch, the chain stitch, the single crochet, the double crochet, the half double crochet, and the triple crochet.
Abbreviations:
sl st - slip stitch
st - stitch
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
hdc - half double crochet
tr - triple crochet
Materials Needed:
Medium weight size 4 yarn in yellow, dark brown, and green
3.75-4 mm crochet hook
polyester stuffing (or use yarn ends)
scissors
How to Make the Sunflowers:
For the larger sunflower...
Round 1: in dark brown, 5 sc in MR (5)
Round 2: inc around (10)
Round 3: ( 1 sc, 1 inc) repeat around (15)
Round 4: (2 sc, 1 inc) repeat around (20)
Round 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) repeat around (25)
Round 6: (4 sc, 1 inc) repeat around (30) sl st in the next two st to smooth the ending. Fasten off and cut yarn.
Repeat rounds 1-6 in green before continuing.

Round 7: align the green and brown circles with the back sides facing one another. Insert hook through one st on both circles.

Join yellow yarn here. Ch 1 time to join circles. Sc in same st.
Sc around the edges to join the circles. Before joining completely, slightly stuff the circles with either the stuffing or the yarn ends.
Sc the rest of the way. Sl st into the first sc (30)
Round 8: ch 2. Dc into next st. Tr into same st. Ch 2. Sl st into the top front post of the triple crochet. Tr again into the same st, dc into the same st. Ch 2 and sl st into the next st.
Repeat italics all the way around. The last petal should be sl st into the base of the first ch 2. You should end up with 15 petals.

For the smaller sunflower...
Round 1: in dark brown, 5 sc in MR (5)
Round 2: inc around (10)
Round 3: ( 1 sc, 1 inc) repeat around (15)
Round 4: (2 sc, 1 inc) repeat around (20)
Round 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) repeat around, but skip the last inc (24)
Repeat rounds 1-5 in green before continuing. (From here, we are gonna work the same as rows 7-8 of the previous sunflower, use the previous example pictures again, if needed)
Round 7: align the green and brown circles with the back sides facing one another once again.
You should end up with 12 petals.
Now for the vine...
Insert your hook through a sc on the back of the sunflower, as shown. You want it close to the base of a petal to allow the sunflower to hang straight. Pull the green yarn through the back, and ch 1 to join.
Ch 90-100 (You want it long enough to fit over the mirror, when the leaf attachment is on. You can always tie it shorter later if needed).

To connect it to the other sunflower, insert your hook through the next sunflower, just like with the first one and sl st. Then fasten off and cut yarn. To secure the vine on both ends, leave a longer tail for tying purposes.
How to Make the Leaf Connecter:
With dark green, ch 20.

Round 1 of 1 :) ch 1, skip first ch, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 3 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 2 sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 3 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, ch 3. This is what you should end up with. Use your crochet hook to thread the chain attaching your sunflowers through the gap between the two leaves. And that is all :)
