How to Crochet a Simple Teddy Bear
Hello and welcome back to my blog Just Stitch and Smile! Today I will be sharing my pattern for this simple but adorable teddy bear. The pattern for the body and head could be used for so many different patterns! Because of this, I will probably be using this as a base for a couple future patterns.
If you would like to watch a tutorial of this same pattern, my youtube video is linked below:

This pattern is beginner friendly, and you will see quite a bit of repetition as all the pieces start the same. You will only need the chain, the slip stitch, the single crochet, the magic ring (can be substituted for a ch 4 loop), and the decrease single crochet. If you are new to amigurumi or if you would just like a simple project to work on, this pattern is perfect! So let's get right into it :)
Abbreviations:
MR - magic ring
sl st - slip stitch
ch - chain
st - stitch
sc - single crochet
inc - increase
dec - decrease
Note: the number in parenthesis after each round is the number of stitches you should have after that round is complete.
Materials Needed:
medium weight size 4 acrylic yarn in white and red
5 mm crochet hook
scissors
stitch markers
10 mm safety eyes and a safety nose (you can also use black yarn to make the eyes and nose, if you don't have the safety ones)
yarn needle
How to Crochet the Bear:

Now we have all of our pieces for the bear done! For the face, I used 10 mm safety eyes and a safety nose.
Attach the safety nose to the snout and sew the snout on to the head. Do this first for the eye placement to work out. Next attach the safety eyes to the head.
Stuff the head and the body. Attach a long piece of yarn to the back of the body and use a yarn needle to sew the head onto the body. Make sure that the head is facing forward, when you are sewing it on!

(As you can see from the pictures below, I did not sew the snout on until after I attached the head and the body. You can do whichever way works best for you :))
Attach the ears to the top of the head. Sew them on using the tails that we left earlier.

When attaching the arms, stop about halfway around to stuff the arms slightly, and then finish connecting them. Hide all of your ends in the body of the bear.

For the ribbon...
Ch 70 and fasten off. Tie in a ribbon around the neck of the bear, and you are done!
