How to Crochet a Just Stitch and Smile Granny Square :)

Welcome back to my blog! Today I will be sharing my pattern on how to make my Just Stitch & Smile granny square. This pattern is for a standard 4 inch granny square. I also have a tutorial for this square up on my youtube, so click the link below if you prefer to watch rather than read :)




Abbreviations:

ch - chain

MR - magic ring

sc - single crochet

hdc - half double crochet

dc - double crochet

tr - triple crochet

sl st - slip stitch

st - stitch


Materials:

  • 3 colours of medium weight size 4 acrylic yarn (I used cream, light green, and black)

  • 4 mm crochet hook

  • Scissors

  • Yarn needle


Round 1: with light green,8 sc in MR (8) sl st into first sc



Round 2: inc around (16)



Round 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat around (24)


Round 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat around (32)


Round 5: (3 sc, inc) repeat around (40)


Round 6: (4 sc, inc) repeat around (48) 2 sc, 2 sl st for a smoother end, fasten off, and cut yarn



Round 7: attach cream yarn, ch 3, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 1 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 1 tr, (2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr), 1 tr, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 1 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 1 tr, (2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr) repeat italics twice. Sl st into top of ch 3

(15 st on each side, ch 2 in each corner)



Round 8: ch 2, dc to ch 2, in ch 2 space (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc), repeat around, sl st into top of ch 2, fasten off, and cut yarn.

(19 st on each side, ch 2 in each corner)



Use black yarn and yarn needle to sew in smiley face :)
